European Projects 2024

THE GEOPULSE PROJECT

The Geopulse project is the result of a collaboration between TLS Geothermics and Storengy, a subsidiary of ENGIE, in the exploration and development of geothermal energy in the Massif Central.

The objective of the project is to build a deep geothermal power plant with an electrical power of 6 MW, thanks to the hot water naturally present between 3000 and 3600 meters deep.

To access this resource, two deep wells must be drilled.

Information

  • Sioule-Miouze License [surface of 52 km²]
  • Extension granted until october 2025 (2nd period)
  • Location: St-Pierre-Roche (Puy-de-Dôme, FR)
  • Februray 2019 : drilling application for 4 wells
  • March 2022: drilling authorization granted
  • Power sold to EDF through a 20 years Contract for Difference
  • Depth of the deposit (vertical): 3000m
  • Expected temperature: 160 to 200°C
  • Required flow rate: 360 m3/hour
  • Electrical power: 6 MW (and up to 12 MW)
  • Annual production: 45 GWh (or 90)
  • Electricity for 9000 homes

St-Pierre-Roche - geothermal project TLS
SIOULE France Geothermal Project
  • 795 km² in the first period (3 years)
  • holders: TLS Geothermics and Storengy SAS (Engie subsidiary)
  • context combining large crustal fault zones in the basement and cooling residual magmatism
  • extension requested
  • several areas of interest exist on this permit, the first of which was the subject of exploration studies between 2015 and 2019 and gave rise to the Geopulse project.
  • objectives: potential for several tens of MW of electricity on the scale of the permit, heat cogeneration, recovery of minerals present in fluids with low-impact processes.

GEOCHUM PROJECT IN MARTINIQUE

Information

  • Coeur Martinique License [surface of  133 km²]
  • License holders : TLS Geothermics and Storengy SAS
  • Objective1 : production and delivery of cold (air conditioning and need for chilled water) by deep geothermal energy, for the Martinique University Hospital. Possible connection of other commercial areas users. Production of domestic hot water.
  • Objective 2 : power generation (5MWe with a small footprint ORC unit)
  • Winner in May 2021 of the Call for Expressions of Interest launched by ADEME Martinique in 2020, with the support of local public authorities (PTME).

EXPLORATION IN MARTINIQUE – SOUTH CARBET PERMIT

Information

  • Request for permit known as Sud Carbet (request in October 2020 by TLS Geothermics and Storengy SAS)
  • Area: 147 km²
  • Objective: electricity production
  • Exploration on the same permit as the GeoCHUM project with the aim of discovering a resource allowing the creation of a small 5 MWe geothermal power plant.
