❓ This is the question that the teams at TLS Geothermics tried to answer by trying to estimate the electrical potential, based on the estimated temperatures of the fluids in the crustal fault zones and considering these faults sufficiently permeable to allow fluid flow.
👉The results are unquestionable: a very largely under-exploited potential, and estimated between 10 and 153 TWh/year, equivalent to 2.4 to 37% of the electrical consumption in France in 2020.
️✅Geothermal energy is therefore of real interest to meet the growing demand for renewable and baseload electrical energy, in mainland France.
