Modeling the propagation of seismic waves allows two things:

– Predict the impact of an earthquake at any point in space, depending on the nature of the subsurface (P- and S-wave velocity, density), the topography, and the characteristics of the slip on the fault

– To better understand the characteristics of the fault slip by comparing the field data with the simulated data.

To do this, TLS Geothermics uses SW4 software developed by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
